Brazilian Hugo Calderano secured the singles title at the Pan American Table Tennis Championships after defeating American Kanak Jha 4–1 (11–6, 11–6, 9–11, 12–10, 11–9) on Wednesday (Oct. 15). The achievement came one day after Calderano and Bruna Takahashi became the new Americas champions in mixed doubles.

“It’s definitely the best season of my career so far. I’ve had great results this year and I hope to keep going and achieve more for Brazil and our continent. I’m really happy,” Hugo said after his latest victory.
In mixed doubles, the Brazilians defeated Puerto Ricans Steven Moreno and Brianna Burgos 3–0 (11–5, 11–7, and 11–4) in just over 20 minutes.

Another medal for Brazil came in the men’s doubles, with Leonardo Iizuka and Guilherme Teodoro defeating Chileans Nicolas Burgos and Gustavo Gomes in the final.
